Do Breasts Shrink After Breast Feeding ?

I’ve read on a few posts today that breasts shrink after breastfeeding. Is it true? No text book answers please, just personal experience. Thanks.

Thay can shrink, but thay can also grow, one of my friends went from a D cup to a barely there B cup but another went from a C cup to a J whilst feeding but has now finished feeding and has only gone down to EE…mine, they stayed the same.

Pregnancy shrinks boobs love not breast feeding. They stretch in preganncy and whenever you choose that your breasts aren’t to be used for feeding a baby they will loose alot of shape. They never return to normal as they are made of fat not muscle, fat has no memory. I was told once that three years after stopping breast feeding that’s the best they gonna get. But you have to think they’re functional its just part of maternal sacrafice. Also breast cancer risks reduced when breast feeding so maybe better to have saggy boobs than have to have mastectomy.

Ive breast fed both my boys and my boobs are lovely, i really think its down to the way you eat after having having a baby i know my sister starved herself to lose her baby weight and her boobs are saggy and just skin!! My mum had 8 kids I’m the youngest and she still has really nice breasts, she swears by lots of protein, meat, fish etc and lots of fruit and veg and not to starve yourself, mine still look good if not better because of this, just eat right and you will be fine, you dont have to get horrible breasts because you breastfeed its a myth xx

The word than shrink is that it sags………since the breast become big while the milk get secreted…so it normally sag once v stop breastfeeding………but do remember that only if the baby sucks milk from the breast….ur uterus will come to its normal condition after delivery……and also their is nothing that good which can compensate breast milk…..so pl. don’t hesitate to give milk

    Hi there
With my first they went from a 32b to a 32c and since my 2nd baby (11months old now) 32c to 32e. they have now finally settled at a 32c though.
So in my case no shrinkage, they arent as pert as they once were though, and seem very comfty in my armpits when i lay down, lol.
My mums boobs stayed big though, so maybe its genetic?? Oh and a well fitting bra too!
    xx

My mum’s didn’t, neither did my sister’s if that helps?
Obviuously hoping mine won’t either – back to my ‘normal’ size would be fine with me.
I think my sis is a size bigger than she was, my mum? More than that.

  7. nickers Says:

Most womens breast shrink when you stop breastfeeding. After my first two children I went from a D cup down to a C cup, but after my third child my breasts did not shrink regardless that I had lost all my baby fat.

  8. *Moscow* Says:

With my sisters first child, my nephew, she went from a D to a B cup. But with my niece she kept a C.
I think i depends on how much the child has as my nephew drank for Britain but my niece didn’t have that much.

  9. lexi1509 Says:

they dont shrink they just look like empty sacks and when you bend forwards they look like socks with tennis balls stuffed in at the ends.
Seriously the elasticity seems to go but not everyone is the same you may be one of those lucky ones!

In some women breasts can shrink, and in others they can get larger it all really depends on your body. They do however sag after breastfeeding.
