My daughter is 17 months old and is still wanting to nurse every two to three hrs even if she has ate solids. I have tried to go longer times without nursing and she can last about six hrs but when she sees me she pulls at my shirt I want to stop breastfeeding because she is so big and its hard to just whip it out when ever now any ideas please I am an open book.

Well, my mom made me stop by putting a tiny dab of tabasco sauce on the nipple, so the baby will taste it and be like.. “WTF!?” and back off. it might take a few times and a few dabbs before she dosent like the taste anymore.
then again, she could be like my brother, and want more, and now he is a spice fanatic. but you never know unless you try

Why not just change things to where you only nurse at home? A 17mo is getting old enough to start to understand some ‘rules’ about it.
Really, this section is full of non-nursing mothers freaking out because their toddler ate nothing but three animal crackers all day. With nursing you don’t have to worry about that… It’s also still keeping her healthier than a non-nursing tot and greatly comforting.
I nurse an almost 2yo and I feel it’s a great convenience. That said, she hasn’t asked to nurse when we’re out for ages — she gets too distracted, and via that nursing has turned into an ‘only at home’ thing.
FWIW the way to get a kid to stop being too insistent and shirt-grabby is to allow pretty unrestricted access — but she’s old enough for you to do it on your terms; if you don’t want to nurse under [x] circumstances, don’t; but say yes the rest of the time.
