From what I understand, babies are much more efficient at getting milk out than pumps. So, your child is probably getting more milk out of you while nursing than you are when pumping. Hope that is helpful.
Sorry-I think that I misunderstood your question. If you are lactating then you should lose weight faster regardless of whether you nurse or pump.
i think i lost more. Here is why, I was pumping so much i started making enough milk for twins or triplets even. Your milk is a supply and demand process the more it thinks you need the more you make. I was exclusively pumping every 3 hours and getting way more than my baby would drink in that time span. So i think since i made more than i would have without the pump i burned more calories even though i ate like a horse i lost all my baby weight in about 4 weeks. Amazing! I did rent a hospital grade pump (medela lactina) and that really helped maintain my supply
Maybe, certainly better than nothing. I have heard that the pump is not nearly as efficient at expressing the milk as the baby though so you may have a hard time getting enough milk out.
Like I said, though, pumping is way better than not doing it at all.
It all depends on the pump you by and how effecient it is. I have a Medela Advanced which is a top of the line pump but pricey at $300. You can also rent a hospital grade one.
I when I pump I get out more milk than when my child feed directly.
No because you are highly unlikely to make as much milk, also you may not get the same hormonal benefits. You certainly won’t get as much sleep and sleep deprivation can cause weight gain.
Depends on whether you “let down” or not. I had a hard time getting that flow when pumping so I never produced much, but honestly, the “weight” lost with each nursing is negligible, so it won’t likely matter.
